SCISYS presents Galileo Online: GO! At the 5th wheel detection forum

8th June 2019

From 5th to 7th June 2019 the Wheel Detection Forum (WDF) for railway experts from across the globe took place for the 5th time in Vienna. SCISYS presented Galileo Online: GO!

Dr. Stephan Recher, Business Development Manager at SCISYS, was invited as speaker to present the results of the R&D project Galileo Online: GO!, which ran for three years from 2015 to 2018 with funding from German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and was executed by German partners from academia and industry: RWTH Aachen, SCISYS Deutschland GmbH, Vodafone GmbH, IMST GmbH, Fraunhofer IIS.

The presentation highlighted the successful implementation and demonstration of high-precision GNSS based vehicle track-ing using GO! prototype receivers, the ground-breaking bi-directional communication between vehicles, infrastructure and shunting service, and – as a demonstration case – the fully automated shunting process for future rail applications. The lecture was received with great interest by the railway experts.

It was the perfect possibility for SCISYS to meet with senior de-cision makers from all over the globe. Innovative formats, in-spiring keynote lectures and many opportunities for personal exchange at eye level were offered. The international platform allowed for discussions on the future of mobility, current trends and perspectives in traffic management and best practices in train tracking.

The WDF provided an ideal platform for a wide range of railway experts from across the globe to share their latest insights and exchange their experiences.

More than 260 senior decision makers from international railway operators and system integrators, as well as manufactur-ers, consultants, researchers and association representatives gathered in Vienna. Together, they form again a strong com-munity making this event an excellent networking possibility. The WDF is organised by Frauscher Sensortechnik, Austria.
